Former President Donald Trump has successfully thwarted all efforts made by his opponents to prevent his inclusion on state ballots for next year’s elections.
A federal judge in Rhode Island issued a ruling on Monday stating that President Trump has the right to be included on the 2024 ballot. The judge determined that John Anthony Castro, a Republican candidate from Texas, did not have the legal authority to file the lawsuit.
The judgment aligns with a previous ruling in New Hampshire last month, which also rejected Castro’s bid to prevent Trump from having a just and unrestricted election.
According to U.S. District Judge John J. McConnell, Castro’s unsuccessful attempt did not demonstrate that he was a “direct and current competitor at the time that he filed his complaint,” resulting in him gaining almost nothing.
